So Cool - Charlotte’s on Channel 4

Another proud moment as one of Slenky’s original R&D users featured on Channel 4 news.

Charlotte Regan - IMDB

We first met Charlotte when she took a Shot at her passion - Film - with our test partner Sony, joining a group of amazing young people from across the UK, all with plans to explore, enter and impact sectors connected to their passions.

The defining feature was that there wasn’t a sniff of privilege or entitlement amongst the entire group, these were working class young people who’d already started investing themselves in their passions.

True Shot Takers who made Shit Happen

Whilst all were individually frustrated at the difficulty in gaining access to the opportunities they needed, none had accepted the status quo as the story of their respective futures, and the video entries were so revealing. These were true Shot-takers.

Pioneers

Their dreams were within touching distance because they knew what their passion was, and had evidence of their efforts and commimtment to date. Often without an obvious source of finance to make shit happen, they just somehow made shit happen.

It was within this context that Charlotte took her Shot at the film industry. Her Shots included a masterclass at the famous Pinewood Studios, where the talent everyone knew she had, could be supported and supercharged by access to real (Real) industry experts.

North London… to Sweden… to Las Ramblas

Other Shots included a visit to Sony’s Swedish base in Lund, and VIP access to Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

Wonderfully talented, ridiculously funny with a Zen-like calmness and an eye able to see drops of water in a waterfall, it wasn’t too long after this that we started to hear from the world Charlotte had targeted that things were happening.

First a BAFTA nomination - and since then regular award nominations, wins and premieres. Now the Sundance Festival and Channel 4 News. Nominations: BAFTA Award for Best British Short Film

Well done Charlotte!

Pioneers (& Party Animals)

If the photograph below could speak, it would tell some great individual stories of young people who took their Shot on Slenky, and made huge leaps in their careers. Some in the fields they first desired, but others who took the experiences into other star-lined careers, or even set up their own businesses. It would also say these guys knew how to party lol.

‘I’m making a film’

You ask Charlotte if she’s working, and I’m sure she’d answer, ‘No, I’m making a film’.

This is what it (SLENKY) is about . Fast-tracking ordinary but talented young people through their passions.

Pinewood or Hollywood, you’ll watch Charlotte’s big screen creations in the future. I’d bet on it.
